Q&A with Dr. Meghan

Q: Can you tell us a little about yourself and what inspired you to become a chiropractor?
I grew up in Calgary and started competing in bodybuilding competitions when I was 19. During that time, I began seeing a chiropractor for treatment, but it wasn’t until I switched to powerlifting that I truly felt the difference chiropractic care could make. Training heavily left me battling pain and injuries, but regular chiropractic visits kept me moving, recovering, and performing at a high level. That experience inspired me to pursue a career in chiropractic myself.

Q: Where did you complete your training, and what experience do you bring to Fulcrum?
I completed my chiropractic degree at the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon. After graduating, I stayed in Oregon for three years, where I treated a wide range of patients—from children to seniors, athletes to pregnant women, and everyone in between. Since moving back to Calgary in 2024, I’ve gained further experience with pregnancy care, complex neurological cases, and musculoskeletal conditions. I’m excited to bring this breadth of experience to the Seton community.

Q: What’s your philosophy when it comes to chiropractic care?
I believe in a patient-centered, well-rounded approach. Not every patient needs the same type of treatment, and chiropractic care isn’t just about quick adjustments. I use a variety of techniques, including soft tissue therapy, acupuncture, rehab exercises, and lifestyle strategies. My goal is to truly understand each patient and tailor care to their needs.

Patient-Centered Care

Q: What kinds of conditions do you commonly help patients with?
Most people think of chiropractors for back and neck pain—and I definitely help with those. But I also treat conditions like shoulder, hip, knee, ankle, and wrist injuries, as well as neurological issues, disc-related pain, and overuse injuries from sports or work.

Q: What are some issues people might not realize chiropractors can help with?
Many are surprised to learn that chiropractic care can also help with headaches, TMJ (jaw pain), vertigo, and even lifestyle improvements like strength training and posture support.

Q: What does a first visit with you usually look like?
On your first visit, I’ll take a thorough health history and perform a physical exam to see how your body moves and where pain or dysfunction may be coming from. We’ll go through range-of-motion testing, orthopedic assessments, and sometimes a neurological workup. Whenever it’s safe and appropriate, I aim to provide treatment on the very first visit so patients can start feeling relief right away.

Education & Prevention

Q: What everyday habits harm spine or posture health?
Anything that keeps you sedentary for hours at a time—like sitting at a desk all day or spending the evening on the couch—can cause stiffness, pain, and weakness over time. Movement is medicine, so I encourage people to find ways to stay active every day.

Q: How does chiropractic care fit into an overall wellness routine?
Many of my patients come for preventive or wellness care, scheduling check-ins every 4–6 weeks to stay on top of movement, exercises, and lifestyle strategies we’ve worked on together. It’s a great way to prevent injuries and support long-term health.

Q: Any tips for people working at a desk all day?
Yes—move as often as you can! Some patients bring resistance bands to work for posture exercises, while others swap their office chair for a yoga ball. Even small changes make a big difference when it comes to posture and spinal health.

Community & Connection

Q: What do you enjoy most about working with patients?
I love getting to know my patients beyond their pain or injuries—learning about their families, hobbies, and work. Building those relationships makes celebrating their progress even more rewarding.

Q: What do you enjoy outside of chiropractic?
Spending time with family is important to me, especially my niece and nephews. I also enjoy being outdoors—camping, running, walking, or just soaking up the sun—and I try to stay active with daily exercise.

Q: What excites you most about joining Fulcrum Physiotherapy?
I’m looking forward to working in a clinic environment that values collaboration and patient-centered care. Being part of the Seton community excites me, and I can’t wait to meet patients here. Plus, being around the gym might even inspire me to get back into regular lifting!
